Thistle Systems Move into Custom Build Headquarters
Thistle Systems, one of the fastest growing corporate interiors and storage solutions providers in the UK , has opened its custom build headquarters in Cumbernauld.
Designed to act as a showcase site, the 10,000 sq ft office premises has been finished to the highest standards with the interior excellence that Thistle has built its enviable reputation on.
The company has grown rapidly in the last 3 years to its current turnover level of just over £4million thanks in part to the company's unique approach to providing clients with 'awesome customer service.'
The impressive headquarters strike a fine balance between interior design and operational effectiveness following the company's philosophy of making workspace work.
As Mike explains, the company has invested in its office to provide clients with an example of what can be achieved in office developments, "When we set out on the design process our focus was on creating an environment which inspired both our clients and our employees without being over indulgent or extravagant."
He continued, "As a company that specialises in fit outs up to £1 million, our clients are not looking for over the top design with original artworks adorning every wall. They want a modern, sophisticated office design that doesn't compromise on style but is first and foremost practical in layout and facilitates their business needs."
Visitors to Thistle's headquarters will not be disappointed with the stylish interior with a warm reception area featuring quarry stone tiles to the floor complemented by walnut finishes and doors.
A feature wall is been created using quarry stone tiles and houses an AV screen which provides visitors with a rolling presentation of the latest news, services and products being offered by Thistle.
The board room is just as impressive with back lit LED lighting and full multimedia presentation facilities.
The company has also created a showcase area for its record storage solutions with a full mobile shelving system and racking system on display.
Demonstrating one of Thistle's core strengths, the company has fitted out the bathrooms to the very highest of standards with full ceiling to floor tiling, tub basins sitting on walnut plinths and, for those that like their gadgets, the latest in Dyson hand drying technology.
The entire day to day working space is situated on the first floor and Thistle has created an open plan area which is effectively the hub of the company's operations.
Mike explained the huge operational benefits from moving to an open plan working environment, "Our company has traditionally operated as 2 separate divisions however the nature of our business has changed and there is a far greater cross over where our storage team is working hand in hand with the interiors team."
He continued, "The open plan design enables our teams to collaborate and innovate on projects both at the design stage and throughout the project management phases which offers superb improvements in operational effectiveness and customer service."
Mike's office has been designed to act as a secondary meeting room with superb floor to ceiling windows and the sloping feature ceiling gives a bright airy feel. A flat screen TV has been built in to the wall to allow presentations, proposals and visuals to be discussed.
Sustainability has been a key consideration in all aspects of the design process and the building features a combination of LED and low energy lighting.
Managing Director, Mike Cairns, said "We are not a company that likes to have too much of the limelight and have therefore opted for a relatively low key opening. Instead we are making personal invitations to our clients and contacts to arrange visits on a one to one basis so that we can discuss the key features of both the new offices and our services in more detail."
Thistle's office development constitutes the first phase of a development site with the company owning a further 2 acres of land which is ear-marked for a merchant village.
The company has plans in place for a further five 10,000 sq ft units to be developed over the next 3-5 years.
